Robert Basler is the president of Aurora Systems, Inc. and has been a dedicated OS/2 user since he tired of rebooting Windows 3.1 twenty times a day. He spends what free time he can manage travelling the world. Photo was taken at Franz Josef glacier, New Zealand.

SciTech SNAP Graphics for OS/2 and Linux

From The Editor

I finally completed my advance look at eComStation 1.1. Just in time as it turns out, since eCS 1.1 went to manufacturing just a few days ago. The project I've been working so long and hard at is ending in a few days. The stress is over. It's nice to be me again. My wife is happy to have me back. Don't work too hard folks, life's too short. Enjoy the issue, see you next month.

Laugh out Loud Funny

You might have heard about RFC 3514 well check out the responses the author of the RFC got, particularly the origin of the very last one. Made me laugh out loud.

Interesting Utility

I ran across mention of this utility reading newsgroups this month. Since my Thinkpad has never been able to hibernate to disk, I was pretty interested to read about this. You can download the Thinkpad Hibernation Utility to create a hibernation file on your first FAT16 drive, or create a standalone hibernation partition. Although the readme says it only works to create a hibernation file on a FAT16 drive, users have reported success both with the hibernation partition choice, and with creating the hibernation file on an FAT32 drive. If I work up the nerve to attack my perfectly functional laptop with Partition Magic, I'll let you know how I did with this little tool.

This Month

For reviews this month, I take a look at eComStation 1.1, Deane Yamane takes a look at Memsize and John Bijnens at KVEC. Isaac Leung talks about making PDF files and offers a list of useful OS/2 tricks. Bas Heijermans looks at time client/servers and Tim Swank offers up a couple more cool desktop images. Our new writer this month, David Del Col, looks at application servers on OS/2. I was surprised to learn that PHP-Nuke works on OS/2, as David has been running it.
